Corpus Christi at El Do Gold
Thursday 7th June, 2012
Corpus Christi meaning the Body of Christ is celebrated in the Roman Catholic tradition in Spanish speaking countries. It is a feast which celebrates the Real Presence of Jesus in the Bread which is broken by the priest and becomes His Body and the chalice of wine which becomes His blood. This Body and Blood is what Catholics receive at Holy Communion.
In Trinidad it has come to be The Day to plant as it has normally rained on or around that date for many years. Here Staff and students came out to plant trees, ornamental plants and hedges around the school compound.
Photo: Mrs Anne-Marie Persadsingh (Principal) is ably assisted by Mrs Khadine Brathwaite (Social Studies teacher) and Miss Judy Gill (PE teacher) while students look on.
